  • China offer help, America offer war!

China has "offered" to come into Europe & "help re-sturture" the eurpean banking system. (In other words China after saving the Euro from getting KILLED by the Ango-saxon Scum is ready to make a takeover move).

You can see how China will finish the Anglo-saxons banking system off, they isolate it bit by bit until its just a New York/London game. Both the £ & $ will then be killed....

America has just issued "Terror Alerts" for Europe......Waring Americans to be on their guard (warning Europeans goverments that America will do a "9-11" using Sudia troops on them if they try to accept China's "kind offer".

Oh what a World we live in...........this situation will get out of hand & we be lucky to live though it!

It sucks, Mike, but make sure you go out and find some beauty around you to keep things in perspective. Try smiling at someone who looks blue, and get them to smile back. It'll do wonders for your spirit.

As for me, I'm going out to work in my garden.

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Mike: I've heard from a few female Asian friends that they have a hard time estimating an Anglo's age.

How do you know its not the other way around, maybe the chinese are so reliant on exporting to the west (us and europe) that they themselves can't afford for a banking/credit crisis/etc. to occur. The leaders in the west were traitors when they let all those jobs move to china/orient, its about time we put some common sense policies in and protect our workers and industries.

If the impasse cannot be resolved within the next couple of years, there will be only 2 outcome left:

                1. America becomes third world in 20 years, no longer a military threat. China becomes the sole economic and also military superpower.
                2. WWIII - at some point, China will stop selling goods to America on credit, so the only option left is to get it by force.

China knows and is always preparing for outcome 2, so outcome 1 is the greater likelihood, which means the only 2 possible outcome now is:

                1. America becomes third world in 20 years.
                2. Resolve the trade imbalance within the next couple of years.

Oh Great, so now since I won't be able to buy those $30 dvd players, I'll be fighting for them.

But this is something I doubt will happen. I think the chinese fear the idea of a liberal democracy forming in china more than losing out on some US treasury/greek bonds.

By 2030, the Chinese economy will be much larger than the US, so why would China need to be concerned about the bonds?

2030 is a long ways off, alot can happen in 20 years. I wonder how many projections from 20 years ago are true today?

                        You have echoed my thoughts...

The number of outcomes exceeds two. And these two below don't strike me as being anywhere near the most probable either...

I think the jury is still out on the Chinese experiment of state-owned, state-driven, centrally planned "capitalism". The official economic statistics that come out of China contain at least as much BS as the stuff pumped out by the BLS in D.C., and there is absolutely no possible way that the pace of investment in China is not creating serious mis-allocations of capital...which WILL come back to haunt them in due course. The very idea that a small group of men in Beijing can command and control a fast growing economy over a land as large as China is absurd.

I have no doubt that China will succeed in its efforts to improve the lives of its citizens, but 20-year straight line extrapolations of any trend [up or down] are certain to be in error. China's road ahead would seem to be one that contains many deep potholes, and maybe a few washed-out bridges...anything but a smooth ride.

Well you echo my thoughts too.

Their ability to use force and keep people dumb is one of the keys to their success. Which is why I mentioned, the number one threat to china is a democracy forming after the collapse of the communist government.

What do you think of capitalist oriented political systems in which even fewer people, only a handful, if not only "one man rule", i.e. such as those in Dubai and Singapore? If the prognosis for China is bad, then it must be many times more bleak for Dubai and Singapore.

Actually, you may disagree, but I don't actually see a lot more people running the show in the Washington as compared to Beijing. As for the US election, the democrats and republicans, are both sides of the same coin, as we all know.

I can't comment on Singapore as I have no idea what goes on there, but to suggest that Dubai and the GCC have "capitalist oriented political systems" is to completely misunderstand how this region works. These economies are owned and run entirely by and for the benefit of the Ruling Families. There's no competition and there's no capitalism about it. The "government" is simply an administrative arm of the Ruling Family, with the primary purpose of maintaining the status quo - whether that be through the security apparatus, the military, the courts, the Electricity Directorates [which are extensions of the security apparatus] and the Ministries of National Development [which usually own all the shares of all the state-owned companies...which is most of them]. Don't think for one minute that you are going to be able to set up and compete against any of the state business entities, and if by chance you find some lucratively profitable niche be prepared to have to share the spoils, or even be squeezed out completely. The only exceptions are the favoured Merchant Families, historical supporters of the Ruling Families, who have been granted protected franchises...mostly in the construction, retail and rental property sectors. I lived in the GCC for many years because it was convenient for a lot of reasons, but all my business interests were located elsewhere.

The professional expatriates that live in this region work almost entirely in the services sector - bankers, architects, engineers, accountants, some medical professionals, teachers, that sort of thing. They sell their time into and in support of the economy...they don't own any part of it.

Capitalism it ain't. These economies are every bit as artificial as the snow on the Dubai ski hill...
