Re: China takes the Biscult !

So, as the Federal Reserve Bank tries to manipulate the dollar lower, money flees from the dollar to other currencies such as the pound. In the example that you have shown, money that would otherwise come from China to create jobs in America has instead, gone to the UK to create jobs there--- in processed-food manufacturing, i.e, biscuit manufacturing.

If I were a student at Princeton or UC Berkeley to-day, or wherever, I would be mocking my professors, especially in economics classes and in ecology classes. I would be organizing sit-ins to shut-down these departments.

So the more the Federal Reserve lowers the dollar by keeping interest rates at zero, the more jobs we lose. But the idiots in sticking with Keynesian economics orthodoxy say that they have prevented a deeper Great Recession by driving the dollar down.

Students should walk-out of their classes now!

Why would anyone or any nation invest in the U.S. dollar if they are going to have their head handed to them by currency de-valuation? Forget what the econometric models say! Forget the orthodoxy.

Mmmm...they will be much improved with melamine and diethylene glycol, before they are exported to the US in pretty yellow lead-laced packaging. I'll be looking for them at ma' neighborhood grocer, but only if they are FDA approved.

Looks like you folks are going to be having your afternoon biscuits served only with Chinese tea soon!

Thank gawd Her Majesty won't have to give up Earl Grey for Oolong...long live the British Empire...
"...Jacksons of Piccadilly claim they originated Earl Grey's Tea, Lord Grey having given the recipe to Robert Jackson & Co. partner George Charlton in 1830. According to Jacksons the original recipe has been in constant production and has never left their hands. Theirs has been based on China tea since the beginning..."

Re: China takes the Biscult !

In my lifetime, I have never known the EPA or the FDA to have a sound knowledge of public health issues. They have whipped-up public hysteria on just about everything, and have mis-led the public on just about everything.

Selenium and arsenic are in the human diet. They are needed in living-things in trace amounts, but they can be deadly in large quantities. Uranium is harmless to people in most amounts. Radiation is harmless to people in small and moderate amounts. Mercury is in the hills of San Jose, California, and it is totally harmless. Taconite-tailings resembling asbestos in Lake Superior have proven to be harmless. No-one has developed cancer from them by drinking Lake Superior water. Lead is rather benign, but it can be poisonous in large amounts. Lead is a common mineral in many rocks. Oil is harmless, and oil is found in the waters of the Pacific Ocean. I swam in oil as a kid in California. Oil is also needed in the human diet. Ultra-violet radiation from the Sun is needed to absorb calcium and vitamin D in the human diet, yet ultra-violet radiation is a well-known carcinogen.

Ignore just about every warning from the EPA and the FDA.

Re: "money that would otherwise come from China to create jobs in America"; yes, if we just play nice, the Chinese will send money to create American jobs... just like they always do.

If I'm a Chinese investor, I wouldn't invest in the US or any NATO country.

Re: China takes the Biscult !

One has to breathe-in mercury vapour, for an extended period of time in order to develop Minamata disease. No Minamata disease has shown-up in San Jose nor anywhere around Silicon Valley.

Dentists use mercury in the their offices to make dental-fillings from silver and mercury, in an amalgam. This has been going-on for decades, everywhere. No-one has come down with Minamata disease, not patients and not dental staff, anywhere..... But the theory of mercury vapour causing Minamata disease from dental-fillings is great--- on paper.

As kids growing-up in San Jose, we used to play with mercury from the near-by quicksilver mines at New Almaden, California. No-one ever got Minamata disease that I know of.

But yes, there is a small risk of spilling mercury onto a shag carpet in a house and then having the mercury evaporate and the inhabitants of the house breathe-in mercury vapour. This could also happen in a dental office, not likely, but it could happen. And then, there would be a risk of Minamata disease occurring. The conditions would have to be just right, i.e, poor ventilation and plenty of mercury vapour in the air of a confined space with people breathing-in the air, for an extended period of time.

The human body does excrete toxins, especially in the urine, so mercury poisoning is not a death sentence. But mercury, like all toxins, should be handled with care. Kids should not play with mercury because its vapours are toxic to nerve cells. There is a risk of being poisoned by playing with mercury.

you are so "seventies". Nowadays youngsters have iPhones and IPods and video games, need no sit-ins or shut-downs

                        Too funny!

I'm only half joking when I say I believe China is trying to poison us all! They also sabotage us with cheap parts. We'll have to spend all our money on replacement light fixtures instead of tanks!
