The collapse happened nine years ago ... that is why it looks flat now. They have run out of things for us to be spun up about. Perhaps we should call it the great "Realization".

Thanks for the post Mega, however I don't think the "Anglo Saxon" is still very much in charge. Hardly! However, just because we're not in charge, doesn't mean life is all that bad.

The rise of developing countries is certainly taking over, but why is that such a bad thing? Just because our share of wealth and innovation is going down, doesn't mean our standard of living has to drop. It just means someone else is leading the way.

People see doom and gloom in BRIC .. and I agree, it's not all great, but hopefully the BRIC can rise up and start doing some of the innovation. We'll compete and keep them honest, and maybe do some automation of our own so that we have our own 'huge labor force' (though a mechanical one).

Are we going through tough times? Of course. All of our jobs are being taken away .. but that isn't such a *bad thing*. They're being taken away because other people are doing the heavy lifting. This frees us up to do other things, perhaps smarter things.

We just need to start doing those things as soon as possible so as not to prolong the painful adjustment period.

I think it all BULL, i think 5 years from now it will be the same tired arguments from the same people...Schiff,Keiser etc.........Look boys its a pipedream...not going to happen...........plenty of cash, plenty of oil.......Anglo-saxon still very much in charge!

Ask yourself, what is the trend? Collapse isn't an overnight event. It's not the equivalent of a meteor hit either. It's the end of an era and the birth of another era. It's a process, not a 24hr event.

... and a bible, and a torah, etc. etc. etc. why the need to divide steve? Can't we all just pray together and hope for and work for the best by cooperating with each other for the best possible outcome for the whole of humanity? Is that too much to ask?

1. Be careful what you wish for, you may get it.
2. Ernest Hemingway put poignant words in the mouth of one of his protagonists. "How did you go bankrupt? Gradually and then suddenly." (Ernest Hemingway, The Sun Also Rises, 1926).
3. It's already started, it is just slow. A Russian described living through the Soviet collapse as waking every morning, trudging down the stairs, then a few years into it suddenly realizing that is is not the country he was used to. You just had the gift of being a little ahead of the crowd.

That said, it takes incredible stamina to shut your ears to the vested interest's constant 24/7 propaganda, so you have my sympathies. Denial is a very strong emotion.

What's there to pray for? I accepted this change that is upon us. Fighting it with prayer is pointless, no?

Change what you can, accept what you can't. And you know what else? You can't rule out profiting from it either. I think there's a lot to be made because most people prefer to stick their heads in the sand. Easy pickings, when their heads are buried, if you ask me.

WASHINGTON — Israel and the Palestinians have agreed to resume their long-stalled direct negotiations in Washington early next month, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday, with a goal of two sovereign states existing side by side in peace.
The breakthrough marks a small but important step toward easing tensions in the Middle East. Clinton made the announcement at the State Department with special Mideast peace envoy George Mitchell at her side.
"As we move forward, it is important that actions by all sides help to advance our effort, not hinder it," Clinton said. "There have been difficulties in the past; there will be difficulties ahead. Without a doubt, we will hit more obstacles. The enemies of peace will keep trying to defeat us and to derail these talks. But I ask the parties to persevere."
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu quickly issued a statement welcoming the U.S. plan.
"Reaching an agreement is a difficult challenge but is possible," the Netanyahu statement said. "We are coming to the talks with a genuine desire to reach a peace agreement between the two peoples that will protect Israel's national security interests, foremost of which is security."
Clinton said the face-to-face talks are to begin Sept. 2. She said the hope is that a comprehensive peace agreement can be reached within one year.

Mega - you need to talk to more people.....the effects are lurking...in the shadows.
Its here - People and Governments can hide their new reality for a long time. US Tax Payers own General Motors - think about how crazy that is. People quietly stop paying their mortgage, stop contributions to 529 plans, stop eating out, while Governments chose not to Fund Pension plans (temporarily - when in reality their isn't enough money to pay to Pension benefits ever). Talk to a restaurant owner - and they are feeling the pain of 'It'. The Restaurant owner I knows has owned their establishment for a long time and he can afford to only open his restaurant 3 days a week - because there is not enough business to be open on more days.

Talk to people looking for work - the only workers who feel safe are Government employees. For the time being they can count on the Politicians to do what ever is necessary to keep Government workers . For example, a $29 Billion Bill in US Congress to secure the jobs of Teachers, Fire Fighters, and Police....when did this sort of Hail Mary Pass Legislation to secure overpaid Government workers. These are truly amazing times and we forget how unusual-extreme todays situation is.

Gold and silver don't spike until the Governments of the world really put the Printing Presses on over time - and that can't happen until the World is terrified of deflation.......you can't predict the timing because this is a process and not an event.

But i want to start to see change, i want to see re-industrailation of UK/US...i want to see a growing middleclass...I just watched "North by Northeast" & was stuck by the wealth of American's.....people trying to better themselves & their kids not up to their eyes in debt!

This bulsh*t needs to end, no more wars, waste,fruad.......a new America, Adam Smith ecomery, not CCCP !

Yes, jtabeb, we all can co-operate with each other and pray for peace together. No argument from me on that point, although I am an athiest.

On this mosque two blocks from Ground Zero in NYC, maybe the best solution would be an inter-faith centre, not just for worship, but for co-operation and peace with all communities.
