    The nine-member Monetary Policy Committee increased the bank rate by a quarter-point to 5.75 percent, the highest since April 2001, the central bank said today in London. The panel, led by Governor Mervyn King, said in a statement that ``the balance of risks'' to price stability still ``lie to the upside.''

    ...............and you should hear them cry about it tonight on TV!

    I can recall rates at 15% Yes 15!.............They are stting there little chins going, "What if it gets to 6%?".............IT WILL PLANT POT!

    One berk sez "I might have to get a 2nd job"................No You won't because your too busy trying to keep your 1ST............Everyone who just piled in on the "Mega house prices are to blame"............I am almost crying as i write this, not for me i got Money and no loans but for a the generation whom about to find out just RECESSION/Mass Unemployment means!!!!
