Re: Islam to the rescue?
I wasn't aware halal chicken was such an issue!
"we all have allowed the Deen of Islam, the most precious gift we were given, to slip away from our lives and replace it with primitive puritanical monotheism centered around sexuality, woman’s dress code and halal chicken, a religion which Umar Pasha Vadillo calls Islamic Protestantism. "

Re: Islam to the rescue?
Interesting find. Any idea how the currency will be valued compared to their current one? It sounds like they will both circulate side-by-side. Will the exchange rate be mandated or allowed to move freely? It would be a shame to see Gresham's law destroy this attempt to use valuable money.

Re: Islam to the rescue?
Bernanke & Co., or Sharia Law? Is that the choice?
No more baby-back pork ribs and BBQ sauce? No more topless bicyclists in Victoria? No more Militant Breastfeeding Cult in Victoria, BC?
How about freedom from Islam and all religion in this gold-backed dinar deal? Or from now on is it, "Check your brain at the door, and pick-up your colouring crayons?"

Re: Islam to the rescue?
Good article. I doubt Kelantan, Malayasia has the economic pull to carry this Gold Dinar. If it is valued less than market rate, it will vanish soon.
it cannot have fixed value, but market rate. A saudi backed one would have a better chance to work.
Except for some teaching in Islam(& Old Testament Bible) which authorize compliance in laws via violence, I think Islam is a good friend of Traditionalists.
In the fight against Usury, Christianity and Islam can join hands. Unfortunately the the recent line of Popes have been less vigorous in their fight against
Usury, I guess they have been more concerned about moral values than effects of money on families.

Does it not stand to reason that before you purposely euthinase your own currency, you have to have something else to replace it lest you have a very large bullion vault and food store. What better way than this, surely no one suspects that our own supposed national banksters would back an islamic revolutionary currency which would be widely accepted in the last great pool of under exploited land masses and populations?

Re: Islam to the rescue?
The entire world is quite open to the idea of a new currency, especially a gold-backed currency. I think the days of central banking and fiat money are numbered, especially after this performance by Bernanke at the Fed. But the rub (the unknowns) is a gold-backed dinar, then the Islam bit, the religious beliefs, the so-called "Islamic revolutionary currency", and all the other unknowns.
I don't want Islam, nor any religion, in any way, shape, or form. PERIOD. And the revolutionary Islamists don't seem to respect that. I want freedom, especially the freedom from religion, freedom from "faith", and the freedom from 10th Century revolutionary anything.

Re: Islam to the rescue?
Some more on this that makes for good reading (and calculation)
http://www.dinarkel.com/islamicdd.html
USD$ 1 = 3.17RM - therefore 1x22k dinar will cost you $188.50
The Islamic Dinar is a specific weight of 22k gold (917.) equivalent to 4.25 grams.
The Islamic Dirham is a specific weight of pure silver equivalent to 3.0 grams
They say you should carry some real money in your travels and not a promise to pay written on paper.
You pay USD$ 4.20 for a chicken with your pure silver Dirham(3.0g)
Yes, in September when visiting I will convert (but not to Islam)
Quote "This Fatwa considers paper-money to be fulus(read Fool Us), because it only represents money and does not have value as merchandise. It follows that since Zakat(Read Tax) cannot be paid in fulus, which has no value as merchandise, it cannot be paid in paper-money, which value as weight of paper is null. On this basis, it becomes clear the urgent need to restore the use of the Dinar and the Dirham as payment of Zakat. If the millions of Muslims who now make their payment of Zakat in paper money would do it in newly minted Dinars and Dirhams, they will put in circulation millions of gold and silver coins into the mainstream of daily commercial activities of our communities. That single act will became the most important political act of the century, opening the path towards the establishment our own halal free currency breaking away from the usurious financial system." unquote
Question? A billion Dinars means a truck load of Golds got to be got with what?
