Talk round the camp fire here in Blighty is that British banks have helped themselves to lots of "Toxic waste". Its unlikely to crash a major British Bank, but the chat is if your more than £30 K your unlikely to get a bale out for more than that.

Might be an idea to have a number of A/C...saftey in numbers, spread the risk...............Any thoughts?

Just for the heck of it, I've been opening USD$80,000 9 month CD's in a variety of small local banks, mostly privately held and with only a local batch of mortgages NOT sold off to the secondary markets.

Feeling pretty comfy and with returns over 5%, it's a no brainer.
