Re: Austerity Update (Govenment Services Collapse)
This is just going to open the flood gates of more government fee and revenue programs. I drive to and through newark to the train station occasionally and I have noticed something recently and that is red light cameras. The main road through the city has been infested with these red light cameras to catch drivers passing red lights, but also RIGHT TURN ON RED, that really pisses me off because the traffic was bad, and now they put up signs that you can not turn right on red. Turn right on red and you get a ticket. The cameras are also very crappy if you brake a little late and your car is in the crosswalk the camera flashes. I expect more of this, not to mention newark is a ghetto contrary to what you may hear , so the people who most likely will be taxed are the commuters who park or use services in the area. The locals have very few options of raising revenue. If you know anything about NJ you'll know that newark is a black hole that sucks money from the rest of the state and essex county.
PS a private company gets a portion of the revenue from the red light cameras, so its not like the cameras were bought out right. The states monopoly power has been rented out to a private company to feed investor profits.

Re: Austerity Update (Govenment Services Collapse)
Please witness all of the solar-powered parking metres in Victoria, British Columbia, and witness the parking metres at Victoria General Hospital; especially witness the parking metres at Victoria Gen. Hosp. outside of the Emergency Room entrance. And witness the $2.75 minimum charge on these metres, even in handicapped parking. So bring a pocket full of coin next time you have brain surgery or have a heart-attack. And be sure to leave word with the surgeon to feed your metre outside.... The revenue from these metres goes to feed the coffers of the Provincial Government in British Columbia.
