South Korea deploys robot capable of killing intruders along border with North
The robot uses heat and motion detectors to sense possible threats, and alerts command centres, Yonhap said.

If the command centre operator cannot identify possible intruders through the robot's audio or video communications system, the operator can order it to fire its gun or 40mm automatic grenade launcher.

I'll be more impressed when humans aren't required for lethal decision-making. Until then, it's not really a robot, it's just a glorified waldo.

Did a quick search and was unable to locate who got the Dev contract for this device. Anyone know?

The Israelis have also placed a number of remotely(human) operated M2 browning 50cals on their border, located within what look like small telescope oberservatory domes that are used to protect the weapon systems and optics from the elements when not unmasked to engage targets......the system is integrated into a sensor array that allows a good chunk of border to be surveilled and guarded to act as a big force multiplier for only a small number of border guard conscripts sitting at consoles.

Just found a video on it:

I don't know Ash. If I were worrying about AI mechanisms that were a threat to humanity a-la skynet I would look to electronic trading algorithms.
