A favorite point made by a coworker regarding mgt is that whatever the mgt is saying, it is because exactly the opposite is true.
Ie, "We're an equal opportunity employeer" [usually right after an internal incident results in a lawsuit]
"We're committed to being the most modern, up to date IT system in our industry" [We'd be happy if just spell checked worked on our computers, much less getting a recent cost report to our managers'].....
A pronouncement like that says to me that gold is still a good choice.
