    Re: SEC CHARGES GOLDMAN!.......(Pitch me)

is this just theatre? Will the SEC give GS a hand slap, making team O look tough, then its back to business as usual. The whole thing may have been agreeded upon already. There are rumors of GS dumping SPY today.

CNBC Guest Tells, Sylvain Raynes, says "It's quite possible that Goldman had an equity position, they probably wrote it off on the closing date. So they stood to lose a few million and make a few hundred million... Goldman was clearly in the know, they knew what they were doing. In fact, if they are defending themselves against a fraud charge they will have to make a case that they didn't know. I think too highly of Goldman Sachs to think that they didn't know what they were doing... These deals were made to be shorted."

"We don't have time to go into details, I want to remain shallow in deference to Mr. Cramer."

Erin Burnett "You will not be back, you have to be more polite than that"

Talking heads are taking heat with GS now.

How about this scenario: The SEC levies a fine so big that GS faces bankruptcy. The government gives GS a bailout package so they can pay the government the money they owe. Everyone's happy.;)

The SEC's previous history of inaction has caught up with it...pressure's high, time to do Something. Anything...

Had dinner with a friend that works JPM IT. The whole organization is abuzz about that event. No big deal, common (but spectacular) software change failure. Only down an hour or so as I'm told.
