  • PIGS drowning in illegals - not just debt

Illegal immirgation is also a HUGE problem for the PIGS.

I wonder how much of the PIGS debt issues are connected to illegals and hence a huge illegal economy, similar to what is happening to Los Angeles and South Florida, a break down of public/private social and economic structures.

It is difficult to run an honest local business in LA and South Florida because so much of the economy is run through illegal workers and illegal black markets: both workers and customers and politics, ...

    1. Italy makes a positive move to protect against illegals. This is what we need in America!

    * $14,000 fine and 3 years jail for employers hiring illegals.
    * Unarmed citizen patrols against illegals.
    * Doctors can report illegals to authorities.

    2. Spain fails. Spain legalizes 600,000 illegals. Hence the next wave of illegals have simply started to take thier place and will wait for thier turn in 10 years time.

    3. Greece has a major problem with illegals:

"Greek authorities are desperately trying to cope with a surge of migrants on to the country's islands which has left detention centres overflowing."

"They're coming in by the boatload from Turkey at all hours of the night and day," said Nikoloas Zacharis, vice-prefect of Samos, another Aegean island. "It's uncontrollable."

    4. Portugal will legalize over 1 million illegals and so the next wave will then arrive. The net result in a few years will be 1 million new legal citizens and another 1 million new illegals.

Amnesty for illegals is a 100% political cop-out. It does not dent the illegal immigration problem in ANY WAY WHATSOVER. Amnesty is only valid if combined with a harsh crack down on the next wave:

    1. No medical services for illegal immigrants. Hospitals must prove citizenship of each patient in order to get paid for services through Obamacare. This probably requires a citizenship ID for all Americans.

    2. Harsh fines and jail terms for employers hiring illegals.

    3. Laws that support (not hinder) local police AND citizens (armed and unarmed) to crack down on illegals within thier communities.

    4. Guest worker program for farm employers. Fingerprinted and tracked from entry to exit. Employer pays to bus in workers, pays for medical, and ipays to bus them back. Check off by US border patrol on the way in and out, otherwise the employer no longer qualifies for the program.

Where are your millions? I see from this dated article - "Formerly they had sole responsibility for processing visa renewal applications for the 460,293 immigrants living in Portugal, as well as policing some 200,000 undocumented people in the country."

The last problem I recall with illegal aliens in south Florida was when they were washing up on shore, often dead, and often on the same day some bales of pot would wash up as well, back in the late 70s/early 80s if I remember right, in an attempt to escape the torment of Haiti in particular, the dead illegals, not the bales. I'm also aware of a Mexican contingent holed up in Lake Worth. I think Miami is mostly dry-foot legals by now. And Fort Lauderdale, well, most of the immigrants there are from Miami. I think they crossed the county line legally, however.

So I did a google news search, just in case our housing crash has diverted my attention from some huge illegal alien problem I should know of. Search criteria "illegal immigration" + Miami shows one south Florida news article on a "vast visa student fraud ring". Criteria "illegal alien" + Miami shows zero stories in south Florida newspapers. "Illegal alien" + Florida shows another zero stories. Searching "illegal immigrant" + Florida shows some census concern, but again, nothing originating from south Florida newspapers.

After more searching, I did find this article

          http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/flo...,3157212.story

"Florida's illegal immigrant population has significantly declined — with 80,000 fewer in the state since 2000, according to a new report....

Florida's drop brought the state's population of illegal immigrants to about 720,000 as of 2009, after having reached a peak of up to 1 million by other estimates. That's a 10 percent decline since 2000"

I think we've a population of about 18 million legals in Florida while there's an estimated 12 to 20 million illegals in the country. I'm not sure the problem here in south Florida is quite at the "break down of public/private social and economic structures" level yet.
