This is the first article I've seen in any mainstream publication that disabuses the notion that offshoring benefits the U.S. economy.

I recall reading an article in the McKinsey Quarterly a few years ago describing how every dollar lost to outsourcing/offshoring resulted in more than one dollar of value (I remember the estimated value being on the order of $1.30) being created due to a freeing-up of resources to pursue higher-value tasks.
Considering my own experiences with offshoring and especially considering that McKinsey is a beneficiary of outsourcing/offshoring, I had my doubts about the thesis of McKinsey's article. However, I never saw anything published outside of what are considered "fringe groups" to counter the belief that offshoring is good for the U.S.--until this.
