  • Fox News Interviews President Obama

Beyond amazing. More proof of the anti-America fascist scum at Fox News.

If this guy's "news" career does not end in the morning then Americans really are cowards. This guy needs his head kicked in by a group of Iraqi veterans at a minimum.

Re: Fox News Interviews President Obama

If I'm whoever is in charge at Fox News..... I'm not too sure that I'm happy with the way that President Obama was treated. I think Brett Baier may have just rendered himself the most ineffective White House correspondent in history from here on out.
Hard to think that they'll ever get any sort of cooperation from this administration ever again.

FAUX is so unbelievable at times. Their personalities are far too powerful for whatever reason. Who knows? But the fact that that interviewer and the damn snake Chris Wallace not only have jobs but have been promoted because of their blatant disregard for both Americans and the ideal of liberty is beyond disturbing. Channel 44 (FNC) is a no-go for me. They will never take back my viewership.

So odd that this realization happens during an interview with the Snakeoil-Salesman-In-Chief though. Although FAUX will cover things that are off-limits to establishment MSM, they are seriously mental in their hardline neocon views. The Internet can reliably fill any void left by them and the schmucks working for the MSM.

I got a kick out of heir leader getting annoyed at being interupted and pushed on issues for a change instead of being lobbed softballs by some adoring "journalist" slash obama groupie. My favorite quote" rules, I'm not concerned about rules" or the law or the constituion. I'm BHO, the chosen one. This is good for amerika because I say so.

FOX is a 24/7 television station available to essentially every television set in the world. FOX is the main news outlet for the second largest media conglomerate on the planet. How is FOX not "mainstream media"?

Their personalities aren't powerful...The minds of their viewers are weak. Their Anchor babes are hot though.

This is no different than almost any interview you hear today on ANY news channel where someone with an opposing view is being interviewed. Rude and pushy is the new style. I do think the POTUS deserves better treatment. If that Fox interviewer thought that Obama was going to come on and actually allow himself to be pressed on issues then he is a fool. That's not how it works. Obama had no intention of walking into the Lion's den to be slaughtered. Obama was supposed to be allowed to do a speech and then leave.

FOX's origins are different from most of the MSM, which is why they were separated from "establishment MSM" in my post. They certainly are MSM, but absolutely a different breed. Their only strong point is their perpetual scooping of both stories and non-stories over the rest of the establishment MSM. That, however, doesn't make up for their incessantly narrow neoconservative narratives.

I don't see how it's different. Murdoch inherited his father's Australian tabloid, and then began a string of acquisitions, buying newspapers and television broadcasters. A little union busting in England and lots of tax dodging globally, and presto, we have an international media corp quite in the mainstream in every way.

Fox hasn't been news, or had to be news for a LONG time. [bold - my emphasis]

                        The Media Can Legally Lie
"In February 2003, a Florida Court of Appeals unanimously agreed with an assertion by FOX News that there is no rule against distorting or falsifying the news in the United States.

Back in December of 1996, Jane Akre and her husband, Steve Wilson, were hired by FOX as a part of the Fox “Investigators” team at WTVT in Tampa Bay, Florida. In 1997 the team began work on a story about bovine growth hormone (BGH), a controversial substance manufactured by Monsanto Corporation. The couple produced a four-part series revealing that there were many health risks related to BGH and that Florida supermarket chains did little to avoid selling milk from cows treated with the hormone, despite assuring customers otherwise.

According to Akre and Wilson, the station was initially very excited about the series. But within a week, Fox executives and their attorneys wanted the reporters to use statements from Monsanto representatives that the reporters knew were false and to make other revisions to the story that were in direct conflict with the facts. Fox editors then tried to force Akre and Wilson to continue to produce the distorted story. When they refused and threatened to report Fox's actions to the FCC, they were both fired.(Project Censored #12 1997)

Akre and Wilson sued the Fox station and on August 18, 2000, a Florida jury unanimously decided that Akre was wrongfully fired by Fox Television when she refused to broadcast (in the jury's words) “a false, distorted or slanted story” about the widespread use of BGH in dairy cows. They further maintained that she deserved protection under Florida's whistle blower law. Akre was awarded a $425,000 settlement. Inexplicably, however, the court decided that Steve Wilson, her partner in the case, was ruled not wronged by the same actions taken by FOX.

FOX appealed the case, and on February 14, 2003 the Florida Second District Court of Appeals unanimously overturned the settlement awarded to Akre. The Court held that Akre’s threat to report the station’s actions to the FCC did not deserve protection under Florida’s whistle blower statute, because Florida’s whistle blower law states that an employer must violate an adopted “law, rule, or regulation." In a stunningly narrow interpretation of FCC rules, the Florida Appeals court claimed that the FCC policy against falsification of the news does not rise to the level of a "law, rule, or regulation," it was simply a "policy." Therefore, it is up to the station whether or not it wants to report honestly.

During their appeal, FOX asserted that there are no written rules against distorting news in the media. They argued that, under the First Amendment, broadcasters have the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on public airwaves. Fox attorneys did not dispute Akre’s claim that they pressured her to broadcast a false story, they simply maintained that it was their right to do so..."
                        Nasty & unfortunate precedent.

Other "news" outlets have done similarly. Though IMO, Fox's audacity (to argue its bizarre perspective in open court) demonstrates a different corporate attitude/chutzpah.

The compare and contrast between Mr. Baeir's interview with President Bush and his interview with President Obama is instructive.

Fox is a partisan political operation. That's very different than being biased.

Agreed. There's neither balance, nor anything fair about Fox. My point was that their so-called reporting goes beyond bias... outright falsification/lies.

POTUS, whether Bush, Clinton, Obama or whoever isn't beyond scrutiny, or shouldn't be. Sometimes an interruption is necessary. But it certainly is a stark contrast between the way W got treated, vs. Obama.

The type of interruptive interview conducted by Fox is clearly sabotage - Take a good, confident speaker, who is also popular, and reduce the conversation to disjointed bickering. In doing so, make both parties seem petty, AND cast doubt as to the authority of POTUS (and any message he might be attempting to communicate). Sure Fox/the interviewer look bad, but they won't be held to the standard Obama will.

All too true. The last couple years is the first time I've noticed outright lying used broadly as a political tactic by prominant national figures and major news outlets. Sadly, it appears to work well; I often hear these lies repeated by people with grave concern.
