Re: Got Oil?
"Potheads" aside [and Steve has to take full responsibility for his choice to live in the home of B.C. Bud*] I've still to see a single electric vehicle that comes close to being a real car - one that meets the majority of the expectations that we have for vehicle reliability, convenience, comfort, cost, etc. - today.
Riddle me this...I live in Minnesota. It's winter. I want my electric car to keep the inside of the windshield clear of frost so I don't run over some kid in a school zone. I also want to run the wipers frequently so I can clear the road spray off the outside of the windshield...so I don't run over some kid in a school zone. And I've got the headlights on, because it's still dark when I start my morning commute, and I don't want to run over some kid... It would be nice to have some heat in the vehicle so my toes don't frostbite. And I want all of this on a zero-F. morning when the cold batteries in my car are operating at 40% of their normal capacity.
Having enough juice to charge my cell phone, listen to the traffic reports, and make it all the way to the office would be kinda nice too...
This is where GM is going to run into problems with the Volt. It simply isn't going to measure up in the real world compared to the other vehicles that GM sells [for less money] off the same showroom floor. And for those that still have not figured it out...this is the reason GM killed the EV-1. It wasn't a real car.

...Although the actual potency of BC Bud varies from batch to batch, depending on how it's grown, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration says that as much as 25% of BC Bud is made of the psychoactive drug tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). In contrast, the pot that the hippie generation smoked in the 1970s had only 2% THC content, and most pot consumed in the U.S. today averages about 7% THC...
...White House drug czar...blames BC Bud in part for the increased number of pot-related emergency room incidents..."Canada is exporting to us the crack of marijuana," ...
