    Re: Is Democracy In Crisis?

Yes I hope democracy is in crisis and I hope it much more in crisis.

This thread sounds like a Ron Paul meetup, so why not go run for some local political office no matter how minor.

    I ain't no communist
    I ain't no capitalist
    I ain't no socialist
    I ain't no imperialist
    I ain't no democrat
    I ain't no republican...

I only know one party and it is freedom. I am a patriot.

I see crypto-anarchy in the thread. Be angry at those who stole your government from you not the form of government.

      Jefferson said it well ...

"The essential principles of our Government... form the bright constellation which has gone before us and guided our steps through an age of revolution and reformation. The wisdom of our sages and blood of our heroes have been devoted to their attainment. They should be the creed of our political faith, the text of civic instruction, the touchstone by which to try the services of those we trust; and should we wander from them in moments of error or of alarm, let us hasten to retrace our steps and to regain the road which alone leads to peace, liberty and safety." --1st Inaugural Address, 1801.

The point I was trying to make is that today's governments will never decide to take themselves out of the picture.

The screaming and gnashing of teeth that would go on if they ever did decide to take themselves out of the picture would result in many broken skulls and burnt out buildings. Americans have been so hooked on government assistance of one type or another for so long that it's become a means of survival for many. Those people aren't going to stand for less government.

In the end, they won't have a choice. The current government "assistance" programs can't last forever; they are unstable, not to mention immoral.

So is the inevitable collapse of those programs going to be any better if they're delayed? Will fewer people be hurt?

that need not be the only way to rally the people against the powers that be. If anything, the modern instinct of the elite to look for nazis around every corner is probably their greatest weakness. Resistance will likely not come from a similar political movement.
