I like Glen Greenwald. Even though as he pointed out he was for Obama, Greenwald articulated and sometimes defended Ron Paul opinions well. He caught heck for it from his readers. He would say "You can't argue something is good to Ron Paul. Paul doesn't care if it's good or bad, just if it's constitutional."

i guess this depends on how one defines the tea party movement. i would say it would started by ron paul republicans largely and once it was becoming semi-cool to be anti-establishment and/or those neocon lites that found the party disappointing started joining on to the only conservative group that actually had any momentum. my belief is that far different about when/how it started than someone who had to learn about the group of people while watching fox news.

The madness began on Feb. 19, 2009 as a bizarre suggestion by Rick Santelli on CNBC.

i believe rick echoed sentiments existing people had and this lent more publicity to those that already belonged in this group. today i think the party is fairly clearly divided by people who find ron paul their leader and hero and those that find palin to be their leader, beck a libertarian, and fox fair and balanced. i find it kind of funny/silly that palin endorsed rand paul, as i think he tea is far better. she certainly could have done so before he was crushing the polls if she really wanted to convince me she was even remotely "rogue." some people don't believe there are these two factions of tea party but one can simply look to paul's district and the primary held yesterday - 3 tea partiers ran against him. not sure why anyone would waste the money, i think his popularity has only grown. he handily won with 81% of the vote.

Palin is kinda of tea partyish. If you know much about Alaskan culture, it's rooted a lot in libertarianism.

Perhaps Palin might have been have been "tea-partyish" back when she was just a regular Alaskan.

Unfortunately, her career is politics.

And just like many of the Congressional Republicans, just like every host on Faux News and just like all of the consistent Republican voters that I know, Palin was pro-bankster bailout up until the very moment that she and McCain lost the election in 2008.

I think if beings on another planet were following American politics, they would think a memo was sent out on the morning after...."Ok everyone, it's time to pretend to be a conservative again."

I listened to that "Great American" Hannity's radio show on the afternoon of the day the bailouts were announced. All I heard were crickets.

That is because the whole financial mess was caused be irresponsible little people who borrowed more than they could afford. The banks are the victim in all of this. It is only fair that the government make up for their losses.

As well as a Libertarian, Palin is also a political opportunist. Like others said, don't forget the first "stimulus" package. That got the ball rolling. After that, what's a few more trillion?
