  • Dollar has not risen against some currencies

Tracking Dollar's rise, I noted most of it's rise has been against Euro but against other Emerging currencies like Indian Rupees, it has not rise at all.

Last March 2009, it was $1=Rs.54, now it is $1=Rs. 46.

Anyone have an idea why the dollar is not appreciating against EM currencies ? I think something is cooking up ?

Because the 'strengthening' of the dollar isn't real strengthening. It is a weakening of the Euro.

Much of the current EM differences in my opinion boil down to differences in short term perceptions & interpretations of monetary & fiscal policies. India looks stronger now on a GDP relative growth basis.

And here's a picture of all three dollar indexes - they're tracking with each other pretty well.

Yes it looks like Dollar strengthening is against Euro mostly unlike 2008 when it
was broad based. I am seeing India's Inflation picking up rampant and hiring/economy is also picking up - I hear from relatives.
