    Re: Atomic Bubble?

Sounds like something James Dines would notice.
Most folks are good; a few aren't.

      Re: Atomic Bubble?

Nice rah rah article by the nuke industry. Good example of how our media has been co-opted by corporate and government interests...in this case apparently Areva. Nice touch to throw in a Greenpeace reference to show "fair and balanced reporting"...too bad the same effort wasn't applied to "accurate" reporting...
"...The Cigar Lake mine in Saskatchewan, Canada, the world’s largest undeveloped high-grade deposit, jointly owned by Areva and Cameco of Canada, will open next year. It is one of eight that will begin producing in the next 12 months..."
I wouldn't be so sure about that. From Cameco:
Cameco Updates Progress at Cigar Lake

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, October 23, 2009

Cameco Corporation (TSX: CCO; NYSE: CCJ) announced today that dewatering of the underground development of the Cigar Lake project has resumed.

The inflow on the 420 metre level that forced suspension of dewatering on August 12, 2008 has been remediated by remotely placing an inflatable seal between the shaft and the source of the inflow and subsequently backfilling and sealing the entire development behind the seal with concrete and grout. The 420 level is not part of future mine plans.
It is currently expected to take six to 12 months to dewater and secure the mine depending on what conditions are found in the shaft and the underground workings...

...Cameco will provide an estimated production start date after the water has been pumped out of the mine, the condition of the underground development has been assessed, and the findings incorporated in the new mine development and production plans...

2009 Cigar Lake Q3 Remediation Update

      Updated Nov. 2, 2009

We continue to make progress in remediating the inflow that occurred Aug. 12, 2008 during the dewatering of the underground workings.
On Oct. 23, 2009, we announced that dewatering of the underground development at Cigar Lake had resumed. Dewatering is progressing as planned.

We will provide new estimates of the planned production date and capital cost after the mine has been dewatered, the condition of the underground has been evaluated and the mine plan has been updated to reflect any resulting information.
According to Cameco it poured 2000 cubic metres of concrete behind the inflatable seal in its latest attempt to block the water inflow.

        Re: Atomic Bubble?

The best source of uranium for atomic power plants would be the enriched-uranium that could be EXTRACTED from DE-COMMISSIONED atomic weapons. There is no point to keeping atomic weapons around.
