One of these days folks are going to realize that California's economy is waaaay larger than Greece's, and then the dollar will resume its place beneath the Euro.

I'd like to hear EJ speak more about the Euro area debt - as the debt levels are far worse than the U.S. and, of course, the political structure such that individual countries will likely not influence the entire EU to depreciate, except of course for those in control - Germany/France.

some time ago he contended that EMU would not come apart unless a economic crisis hit during an election year. Since this seems like a developing Euro crisis, is this too soon to call a break up in EMU?

Do we need the EMU ?

New German EU minister struggles with English

The European Union's new energy commissioner, Guenther Oettinger of Germany, has been the brunt of jokes about his fluency in English even before taking up his post in Brussels.

A video circulating on the Web featuring Guenther Oettinger - until now the state premier of Baden-Wuerttemberg - pokes fun at his strong Swabian accent and his rugged syntax.
