Not to offend jtabeb or anyone else, but what's the economic value of the war machines in which this new fuel is going to be used?
I was speaking of the economic value of dense liquid power sources (from algae in this case), not of that particular use of this power.

      I know.

And my point was that the fuel by itself has ZERO economic value. The economic value, whatever it might be, comes from the use of the fuel.

Eh - my off-the-cuff reaction to your observation is that you're splitting hairs here, and I don't see why you're doing that.

The wide availability of cheap, energy dense, easily transported and easily stored petro has had enormous economic impact on human civilization over the last century.

If there's some worthwhile purpose to this distinction you're making, I'm missing it so far - sorry.

Gosh darn, here I figured you were responding to one of my fine ;) posts.

But when I switch the forum's Display Mode from "linear" to "hybrid", I see that you were responding to Kadriana's good post that began:
I'm probably a bit optimistic for this group sometimes but I think since the financial crisis has started, my quality of life has gotten better. I've rediscovered my love of gardening. I've learned to love hand me downs, especially for my two toddlers, even though I could afford new clothes.
