    Re: Big day for iTulipers

An Unfortunate Phrase From Today's Bank Announcement

    FDR in 1936:
Powerful influences strive today to restore that kind of government with its doctrine that that Government is best which is most indifferent.
For nearly four years you have had an Administration which instead of twirling its thumbs has rolled up its sleeves. We will keep our sleeves rolled up.
We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace - business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering.
They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob.

Never before in all our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hate for me - and I welcome their hatred.
Obama announcing new financial regulations today:
My message to members of Congress of both parties is that we have to get this done. And my message to leaders of the financial industry is to work with us, and not against us, on needed reforms. I welcome constructive input from folks in the financial sector.
Let's choose not to read into it...there are some signs the announced reforms will be tough. Time will tell.

        Hurrah!

And the Brits will pull a trick or two to show who really knows how to run the state finances. Of course the repeal of VAT cut last year has nothing to do with this at all.
UK borrowing 'to beat forecasts' despite record deficit

Alistair Darling will be able to stand at the despatch box this spring and declare that the public finances are in a better state than projected in the pre-Budget report, economists said, as borrowing in December came in lower than expected.

Oh I'd actually call it "swift as clockwork".

After glancing through the 58 page Final Rule For Regulatory Capital Standards, the "rules" will go into effect 60 days after passage, then the banks have a two fiscal quarter grace period (to unload more junk) then a phase-in period over the next two quarters. Also something about a 50% exclusion, supervisory discretion, and a whole lot of incomplete "fill in blank" that us J6's wont be privy to until.............hell ya'll know the rest.

          Devil in the details.

The more I listen to the analysis and news about the latest bank related pronouncements coming from the White House, the more convinced I am that this is just the latest reaction to events.

They're still not leading, just reacting...
Oh absolutely .. like I said... if he does this, he's screwed.

He, like Clinton, was a pawn of the Oligarchies, and since going that route wasn't working out, he's biting the hand that fed him or at least appearing to.

He's probably always known he could do this, but it was probably very last resort.
