In almost any way you measure it, President Obama has not done a good job. Maybe the thought that he was not up to the challenges was correct. If a baseball team was doing this bad they would fire the manager. Sure the players may not be good. But the manager always gets the blame.

I couldn't understand people who supported Obama before he was elected, I figured they were simply suffering from temporary madness and delusions; but a year later, anyone who still is stupid enough to support him is a hopeless f*cking moron who is dragging down the rest of us.

While there is a good deal of truth in what you say, I can only hope you are not one of the hopeless f*cking morons who supported Bush/Cheney and made Obama inevitable. If so, we are all getting what you deserve. People who fall into that category should have the common decency to STFU and keep their opinions to themselves at this point.

"Unfortunately he seems to have forgotten that one of those was supposed to be mine". The President's parting words to Summers will be "...and take that boy wonder Treasury Secretary with you..."

imho - its all about jobs, jobs, and more jobs -

failing into the health care swamp and having to discuss govt funded abortions, health care for illegals, and cutbacks to medicaid and seniors to pay for the new program is a big loser (politically) - there is a reason why we don't have nationalized health care yet in the US and Obama is finding out why

But even though the Clintonites figured out it was the economy before the election, that didn't stop them from trying their own health care reform effort as soon as they got into office.

there actually are connections between health care and the economy, aside from the fact that healthcare is 1/7 of the economy itself. e.g. people afraid to change jobs because of the fear of losing health insurance, people bankrupted by health expenses, competitiveness problems for u.s. companies saddled with health expenses while foreign companies benefit from their nationalized health services, and so on. unfortunately, this disappointing administration doesn't know how to lead. they appear to be a combination of grand but vague rhetoric and backroom sausage-making.

Yes, I agree that health care is one of the major issues that just has to be resolved appropriately as part of a restructuring/re-construction of the broader US economy. I was just being flippant in the previous post.

It's also an issue in many other jurisdictions that have public health care options including Canada, the UK, France and elsewhere. The amount of national income being soaked up in healthcare in these jurisdictions has historically risen faster than either inflation or population growth. Ever more expensive and interventionist technology has been part of that equation. Expansion of benefits, a favourite of politicians around election time, has been another. In the worst cases the dispensation of health care in these countries has become politicized...politicians and the well connected have preferential access, in some cases exclusive access to medical facilities such as military hospitals that are not open to the general public. As these countries start to run ever increasing structural deficits [the Canadian government is still in denial about this] the present system will prove as unsustainable as the system in the USA.

Challenging times ahead for all...
