The cultural South is the South-east portion of the USA. It politically defined by being red, Republican, ultra-conservative, English-only, white on top with black on the bottom of the social-heap. As we have seen once again with Obama Care, the South prides itself in blocking all change whatsoever.

California is hardly a liberal state, but compared to states in the South, California is more tolerant, more innovative, more receptive to new ideas, more welcoming to immigrants, and more Spanish-speaking.

Minnesota is more liberal than California, and that was so even when I was a boy. Tolerance, co-operation, and government help are part of life in the Upper Midwest. And Minnesota has always welcomed immigrants from all over the world.

Steve you might want to check in on the Mass. Senate race today. The new repub senator from Mass (How is that possible) [Mass=North according to steve] the new senator will help th repubs block everything. Kind of amazing that the most liberal democrat state in the union just voted in a repub to Kenedy Senate seat - Steve do you hear me - Youre full of crap again - one more strike and youre out

Yeah.....every now and again he's posted something halfway useful, but signal/noise levels are not good.

It's sad, for years I never used the ignore list and now I've two (to soon perhaps be raised to three) people on it.
