  • The mini ice age starts here

Some climate scientists say that a period of global cooling lasting 20 to 30 years has begun. Arctic summer ice has increased by 26% since 2007. Global warming diehards still refuse to admit the earth may currently be cooling rather than getting warmer. Interesting article.

          Q. What do you think of global warming?

          A. I think it would be a good idea!

And if we look at some actual data we find:

            January 5, 2010

Extreme negative phase of the Arctic Oscillation yields a warm Arctic

Arctic sea ice extent at end of December 2009 remained below normal, primarily in the Atlantic sector of the Arctic. Average air temperatures over the Arctic Ocean were much higher than normal for the month, reflecting unusual atmospheric conditions. Finally, we provide a review of 2009 Arctic sea ice conditions.

            Overview of conditions
Arctic sea ice extent averaged over December 2009 was 12.48 million square kilometers (4.82 million square miles). This was 920,000 square kilometers (350,000 square miles) below the 1979 to 2000 average for December, but 210,000 square kilometers (81,000 square miles) above the record low for the month, which occurred in December 2006. Ice extent was less than normal over much of the Atlantic sector of the Arctic, including the Barents Sea, part of the East Greenland Sea, and in Davis Strait.

            http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/

Artic sea ice extent in Dec 2009 was approximately 10% below the 1979-2000 December average.

I guess the global warming fanatics are wrong because the Dec arctic sea ice extent is 7% above the record low, set in 2006.

Nobody knows what the long term climate will be. You want to roll the dice with your children's future? Pay zero attention to your carbon footprint and and ridicule the global warmers.

Please don't confuse the 'true believers' with actual data. It gets them all riled up and they attack in numbers.....like black flies.

Yes, thanks - it should have been "global warming". I've corrected it.

I hope we really do have a 20 to 30 year period of global cooling/ mini ice age.
Imagine 20 to 30 years of freshies with steep and deep po po.

Yeah, it's below that average of a cherry-picked 21 year period. The AGW Kool Aid drinkers do this shit all the time.

Yes, was also aware of this this theory about global warming/cooling, but thanks for the link. According to Spaceweather.com, the solar system is currently experiencing a sunspot minimum period that has had more than the average number of days without sunspots. This is associated with a less active sun and less energy radiated from the sun, and thus cooler solar system temperatures.
