China is part of the supply chain of American multinationals and dominates the OEM, ODM and raw material markets.
If the US is going to turn to manufacturing over the next 5 years, it is not going to compete with Chinese, but head on with the Japanese and the Europeans.
Now, who wants to sweat it out in the factory when you can receive free cash doled out by Ben Bernanke? This is the fundamental issue.
