My wife had her purse stolen from off the back of a chair in a crowded restaurant when we visited Chicago. I started chasing the guy before he got out the door and eventually chased him 2 blocks on main streets then down a back alley before losing him. The next time your wife is getting beaten or has her necklace stolen, you need to hope that a Southern redneck is in the vicinity. We don't worry that the perpetrator may have had a tough childhood. We see things a little more black and white...a little more right from wrong. Of course, I'm also one of those guys that will bust people for trying to cut a line (cue for Mega) and have many heated confrontations when asking people to quit cussing in public. It embarasses my wife and kids sometimes, but a civilized society needs to have some order and needs to have someone looking out for the weak and the meek.

When I was in the Car Wash business (1991 - 2005) both I and my business partner had a Concealed Carry Permit and we both packed Glock 9mms. I'm a fair shot with the pistol, deadly with a rifle or shotgun.
He was a reserve police officer from age 21 to 30 and was the best shot in his police department of 30+ officers.
At the State Police Qualifying Range he was rated "expert".

One morning on his way to work he saw a delivery man being robbed at gunpoint in a shopping center near his home. He drove after the perp and the guy ran around the corner of the shopping center. When my partner turned the corner (at a wide berth) he saw the perp against the wall taking aim at him with a pistol. My partner fired twice through the passenger window of his truck (it almost burst his eardrums!) and hit the robber in the stomach. The wounded scumbag had two outstanding warrents, one for a felony charge.

Down South we are heavily armed and sick of hearing excuses offered for thugs and thieves.
(And let dis be a wawnin' to all ya'll Yankees befo' ya'll evuh thinks bout invadin our beluv'd Southland agin'! :p)
