thank you for doing this I was going to do the same thing. very busy in the last few days. Is the USD idx up because of the rumors of Greece default? I think EURO is 60% of USD basket of currencies.

It is a weighted geometric mean of the dollar's value compared only with

ETFs volume activity is a dead give away !!

$USD BULLISH stories
1) Euro bad news with the PIGS
2) China has a very sad slow down ( Asian currencies fall: AUD, NZD)

The $USD will NOW surprise to the upside as its has now broken up hard through the 400 week EMA. The 400 EMA has owned $USD for 10 years. This is why Gold may loose value as $USD eventually reaches a level that forces gold buyers to bank profits. But this will be a huge BUY for gold.

EJ didnt pick new year on year highs for the $USD, I am..

The $USD with a 400 EMA...see looks very strong...the worst thing for Ben and the FED is a break out in strong currency...Stocks will eventually have to price in falling exports...

Recent guesses by folks I respect seem clustered between $900 and $1100 for the low.

I had a model that used to work, but since the decoupling of USD and stocks that has occurred, it is not as good. It has not signaled a buy since april 2009 at 890. my guess for another big buy is $1060, not back up the truck point, but a time to up my postion by 10%. I don't mean 20% to 30% I mean 20% to 22%. I'm roughly 20% in gold at this point. Should 1060 be broken, I will consider even a larger purchase.

I am buying some gold every month no matter what the price, trying to reach EJ's 30% level.

If your buying gold without debt or margin under $1500 I feel you will be a winner one day.

At the moment gold has two choices
1) Explode to $1500
2) Sell Off.

I dont think it will explode until A very pig PIGS ( ie Italy blows up), or world inflation is wild. I dont epect sideways as $USD is looking too strong..

Maybe Merlin should do the future gazzing stuff...
