    It's good to see he's still around. He was the local weatherman on ABC in Chicago for years going back to at least the early '70's. I hope his accuracy has improved.

        OK, I have always leaned toward no AGW. however ...
        I am a truth seeker and always questioning what I see and hear.
        suppose global temp is determined by two variables.

        Solar output
        concentration of GHG.

        So what we really need to do is to find a matching year for solar output
        say from 20 , 30 years ago. Then compare this year's temp to that year's temp to see what the isolated effect of GHG is. Now this test has many flaws as well.

        What if there is a 3rd variable to global temp?
        Can we accurately measure solar output?
        Can we trust the data now that we know it is being fudged?

        And you can come up with other stones to throw at my idea, but it would be an interesting data point. If solar output is low now and has a greater effect on temps than GHG, then old SOL gets cranked up again, will we see a much higher peak than the last one?

        On the other hand if solar output is low and going lower are we headed into another ice age? If so, this is probably worse for mankind than melting ice. Does everyone light up a few barrels of oil in their back yard?

        =======
        Hasn't the EPA now declared CO2 a pollutant, and is going to regulate C02 as a pollutant? and not because it is a GHG??
        =======
        You know, someone suggested that fossil energy be taxed, and all of the taxes go into a big pool, and dividend checks are cut each year to every citizen. Probably would never work in practice, but seems like a good idea. Use a lot of energy, you pay a lot into the pool. Instead of the beureaucrats spending the money you get to spend the money.

        Is cap and trade just a money grab?
        ======
        I'm still concerend about peak-cheap-energy. Can the world function on $200 a barrel oil?

          There is plenty of OIL available.

          Its just that the cheap oil is running out, the hard to get stuff remains.

          Hard to get based on
          1) location
          2) Environment issue
          3) Weather issue
