How bout I give a little history lesson, and we will let FRED decide on appropriate content shall we? If FRED wants to police that post, well it's his site and I respect that.

Anyway HISTORY LESSON TIME...

It is often the case that oppressed groups of people employ epithets as a means of communal address, eliminating the power and stigma that the oppressing group tried to impose on the oppressed group.

I would not call myself by these names, because I really don't posses a self ascribed identity to my ethnic classification. (Arab-Norweigan-American just doesn't roll off the tongue, you know)

If you think that post was about sponsoring ethnic epithets, EHHH, you got it wrong.

If you think that post was about making fun of racial epithets, and more importantly removing any sense of power or control that their use may achieve, then DING DING DING, you got it right.


I once had a guy at a movie theater ask me to stop using the language I was using while talking to my friend. (mind you this was an R-rated move). I politely told him that this was a free country and that I respected his right to communicate his displeasure with my tone, but that I would continue my conversation (given our mutual choice of venue) and continue to employ my right to free speech. (He then called me a little S.O.B. and then I told him to F-off, yes really).

So all in all it was A GREAT DAY in the annals of free speech in this great country of ours.

If you can't do something (do to social norms, is it really a right?)


All I'm saying is that it is interesting to me that the censure was not provided by a guy who was actually offended (Metal, not picking on you sir, just making an observation). As far as I know Metal is not of Arab descent.
