  • Big Brother is Watching

Hear that sucking sound? No, it's not your vacuum cleaner. It's Google. And they are harvesting the internet for any and all information. They might even feel nice enough to turn it over to the authorities. But you have nothing to fear...unless you commit a crime...or express a maligned comment concerning His Fabulousness, the President.

    Re: Big Brother is Watching

That statement is ridiculous. There are many good reasons to keep secrets, not all of them nefarious.

    Is that really the point?

The question from the interviewer is should people be treating Google as their most trusted friend.

Obviously the answer is no, but doesn't that apply to anything to insulated by the most secure networks. Isn't that common knowledge by now?

I don't see any reason to demonize Google, before or after this interview.

Please correct if I've overlooked something.

In 2005 (more at link) when Yahoo and other companies handed over information about thousands of websites as ordered by the DOJ, google refused until ordered to do so by a federal judge. Laws need to be changed. Google isn't the problem unless you broadcast your embarrassing shit all over the internet, it's the laws and how they are enforced.
