Pakistan faces demographic disaster.

I thought those kinds of demographics were meant to be a blessing. Japan has the opposite demographics. I know for sure where Id prefer to be.

Of course, using demographics alone to predict the future is the Economics/Social Science equivalent of astrology. Without accounting for the character of the population, all it amounts to is counting heads mindlessly and treating people as a fungible commodity which they are not.

I have found in my life that demographics are the best predictor of the mega-trends in economics. And if you can understand the mega-trends, then you really don't need to know much else.

The demographics in Pakistan point to population explosion, youth unemployment, falling living-standards, Islamo-fascism, and political unrest. The demographics point to pressure on natural resources, and maybe even to inflation, especially in rents and home prices.
