Just saw this. Hmm, what gives?

ST. PETERSBURG. Nov 28 (Interfax) - St. Petersburg Governor
Valentina Matviyenko officially confirmed that Sergei Tarasov, the board
chairman of the Russian Federal Road Agency (Rosavtodor) and a former
Federation Council member representing St. Petersburg, and Russian
Federal Reserve Agency (Rosreserve) chief Boris Yevstratikov were killed
in the crash of the Nevsky Express train on the evening of November 27.
"Sergei Borisovich [Tarasov] was killed on the spot, and his body
was found later. In addition, the death of Rosreserve chief Boris
Yevstratikov has also been confirmed," Matviyenko told journalists.
Matviyenko expressed her condolences to Tarasov's and
Yevstratikov's relatives and beloved ones. "This is our common pain and
common loss," she said.

I think it is actually the other dollar policy.

Russia chopped the ruble/dollar exchange rate from under 29 to almost 30 on Friday.

The consensus in Russia is that it was a wrong place/wrong time deal. There are far too many easier ways to nail a bureaucrat.

In fact I've ridden the train in question - it is a 4.5 hour express between Moscow and St. Petersburg, the fastest in fact.

Thus any bombing of this train was likely to net some high profile casualties.

MOSCOW (AFP) - An explosion hit a railway in Russia's restive Caucasus region of Dagestan early Monday, just days after an attack that killed 25 people aboard a passenger train in northern Russia.

Here in Poland they said yesterday that the attack is linked to a neo-nazi group active in Russia and ALSO in Poland.

Right .... A group who's faces can be seen on any football match TV broadcast decided to blow up a train in Russia. I would give them 5 sec. to survive before Russians would be all over them. That make zero sense.

Even if the Guardian's idiot Russian analyst (another of a long line of idiot Brit analysts on Russia including Churchill) is correct - $40B would be 4th in the world.

As a political leader, however, $40B would be much lower.

The various Arab oil producing nations as well as other oil producing nations like Brunei would populate the top of the list.
