The dollar is gonna hump the Chinese and everyone else until the US keels over from a stroke. Then the US will get up off the floor with a facial droop and piss and crap in its pants, look around to see who is ready to fight again and start throwing punches. The US will be greatly weakened but still very powerful and dangerous. Britain had an island with coal and iron and a decent port, the US has a resource rich continent with many natural advantages and what is left of its Constitution. If you had gold, silver, food, smarts and luck (or were just well connected with the mafiocracy) you are set up for the new play. Awesome clip and as always comedy is closer to reality than other media. Shakespearean. Stay safe.

I seriously doubt anything will change. The crisis if it has done anything, has strengthened the hands of the oligarchies. Import cheap and sell it to the american consumers. Lend the american consumers money and get the middle class tax payers to bail them out. The current state of the USA as it is, makes the most money for the Goldman Sach and Wall Street gang.

It's obvious that at some point the US is not going to have the overwhelming hegemony it has enjoyed. I don't know how long that process will take but I think the outcome will be a massive change for everyone. My bet is that we will have a slow process with multiple steps down in the dollar, but I don't rule out something disorganized, especially as we progress. In your statement about the enthronement of the oligarchy you actually bring up a very important question, are they energized or weakened out of this? I must say that I have no idea what the answer is, but ensconcement of the plutocracy or political upheaval and a new era of American liberty will be the question of our time. Certainly it looks good for the oligarchs right now. I don't know if historians will recognize the shift as it occurs, but I want to be wealthy for the new era either way, even if I am uncaste and not in the warm fuzzy glow of the ruling class. That class can suck my nut because I'm not wired that way.

For all we know, a big portion of American debt held by the Chinese might have already been pledged to US commercial banks for mines and equity.

Audrey: No one is laughing at the "Chinese." I think you mixed them up with the Obama Administration.
