    I'm not surprised. There are about 1 million chinese citizens living in Singapore alone, and maybe another quarter million in malaysia. There are more chinese citizens in ASEAN than anywhere else in the world.

      I think the point was not that there are Chinese citizens over there. These countries are not contemplating using Yuan because there is some pressure from part of their constituency, but because US dollar is tied to an economic loser and an overstretched geopolitical commitments, while Yuan... well China is a rising economic star with huge surpluses and a growing military counterbalance to the US.

        Agreed but also I think due to the Asian Currency crisis, the rapid devaluation and bankruptcy of some countries who failed to keep adequate dollar reserves -as shown many countries that the move to de-link the dollar to cruxial flows (commodities/financing) is not a decision but a necissity given the repercussions that have occurred all over the world from Malaysia to Latvia.
