  • interesting happenings - Iran & Saudi Arabia

    http://yalibnan.com/site/archives/20..._king_deci.php

I heard about this in an interview where they discussed Iran requesting Euros.

EDIT: considering Bush's hyper-extreme tenderness around issues of loyalty (any psychologists want to chime in here?), canceling a Bush meeting to meet with Ahmedinejad is ... "interesting".

    Irrelevant.

Or do you have any substantive commentary to contribute?

I thought the article touched on several things we discuss here regularly. (apologies for the bullet-point style)

      Oil prices.

US dollar hegemony / US dollar weakness / petrodollars (and something we don't discuss a lot, oil states moving to Euros) / oil states buying US treasuries, maybe through London.

All of these (Euro pricing, recycling dollars into treasuries, etc ...) would be severely impacted if Saudi Arabia feels it cannot rely on the US as it has in the past.

The article doesn't address precious metals prices explicitly, but these developments could have a huge impact on PM prices - it's something I follow, and lots of people here are PM investors.

EDIT: I'm surprised TET did not chime in.
