"Clark said he's stopped opening his 401(k) statements. "I remind myself it's a long-term strategy," he said. "I'm going to have to work for about three years after I die, anyway."

    good subject line.

reality ... comes in your front door,

    he goes to the fridge,
    gets a sandwich,
    gets a beer,
    has some loud flatulence,
    gets on the couch,
    grabs the remote,
    turns on the TV,
starts munching on the chips, getting crumbs everywhere

    reality settles in ...

plans to stay for a while

good article, bringing the picture up close and personal. i was particularly struck by the story of the guy who starts with a $135k/yr tech job, and ends up packing boxes to move in relatives as his house gets foreclosed on.

        Yes, 61 and bankrupt.

        Not a good combination.

or more to the point... who will be hung up as the perp that an enterprising pol can pin the blame on?

          how about this guy...

          ideal for the job, no?

Now wouldn't that be the ultimate irony...the only FIRE economy insider who didn't get filthy rich, a university professor, ends up taking the rap for all of them...Paulson, Blankfein, Dimon and the rest of them would probably love it...after all, Ben isn't really one of them...

As long as they can keep reissuing credit to bankrupt Americans, the Barbarians will be kept at the Gate.
