The UK may be the first country to experience a "sudden stop" if they go through with this.

The GBP is already cratering against the AUD, but I suppose it can just keep accelerating on down . . .


"We are likely to see an exciting policy mix, with the fiscal policy lever pulled right back while the monetary lever is fast forward," said Douglas McWilliams, CEBR chief executive and one of the report's authors.
"Our analysis says that this ought to work. If it does so, we are likely to see a major rerating of equities and property which in turn should stimulate economic growth after a lag."

Isn't this a great game? Let's sell off public assets to the oligarchs at fire-sale prices we created. Afterall - we just gave them a wad of newly-minted cash, and took their mark-to-myth assets onto our balance sheets. Then we can run a deficit that the public also has to pay for.

Isn't it the same in this country. California is selling of buildings then renting them back. Chicago and Arizonia is selling off parking meters. Who is buying this stuff? Hedge funds?
