  • S&P 500 Earnings

    From Chart of the Day

    S&P 500 Earnings - Inflaton Adjusted

If I look at the inflation adjusted earnings, earnings remained flat around $30 from 1965 to around 1980 before they started declining, and then increasing from 1994 on. This was around the same time as adjustments were made to the methodology of calculating the CPI

Today it appears that the earnings are at their lowest ebb. I wonder how the graph would have looked if the ShadowStat CPI produced by John Williams had been used to adjust for inflation

    Its all fun !

Price discovery is a joke in the current markets, ring up GS and find out where the next Fed juice is going in the markets.

Question : Can FED borrowed funds be used to SHORT the market ( as well as going LONG in the market) ?

I'm sorry but your chart is upside down (Ozziechart) because the stockmarkets rising. The recession ended because A Cohen said so. Bernanke said its all good. The media tells us we are missing out on the Bull run of a lifetime. Please invert as it goes against Fun- de- mentals.

That's a Ty Andros article. He's one of several commentators out there who is quite good at throwing all manner of scary numbers at you, in his case to help attract new customers for his investment services. He's not quite as good a vacuum cleaner of all the latest hot (and dubious) scuttlebut and rumours as Jim Willie, nor as entertaining as WallStreetPro2, so I've quit reading Ty.

The picture you chose could not have been better because, to some people, it looks more like a chocolate donut. Mmmmmmmm, say the bulls.
