    PH2? Gimme a break

How about WW3 and nuclear holocoust on top of that? Do you want mass rapings to go with that as well? Sheesh.

As for the actual news: political grand-standing. THey have to appease to the voters.

Both parties in the game need each other in many ways.

It's just theater. Pay no attention to it. All the important stuff is happening behind the scenes.

      Japan's Tolerance

Japan has been more than tolerant. Their people have suffered the largest loss in wealth, and watched while others (especially the US) gained economic advantage for more than 20 years.

Japan towed the line, as USA's partner, taking one for the team, while their team mate "partied hearty".

The US over-stepped reasonableness long ago with their expectations of Japan. There will be blood. There will be backlash, as the pendulum starts to swing back.

What would happen if the tables were turned? Would US citizens continue to help Japan maintain the Japanese economy for more than twenty years at the expense of the US economy? When the Japanese created CDO-CDS-real estate-Ponzi Economy collapses and threatens the entire world's economy, would the US be ready to double-down, swallow hard, and go further into the Japanese-created economic hole for another 20 years?

      I don't think so.

      There would be backlash.

As for Mega, another excellent find. If you don't like the titles chosen by Mega, don't click on them. It would seem to me that Mega reads the find, thinks about it, becomes aware of how he feels about it, then chooses the title for what he thinks and feels after reading his find. Mega's titles are a hybrid of Mega and the article's content. Headline writing has been an art form of brevity, creating intrigue, and personality for more than 200 years. Mega has it all! Long live Mega!

If a different goal for Title Writing is desired, Itulip could change its format, having Title, Description, and Message (ie. add Description) for each posting. Description would be 100% factual description, summary, abstract, etc. of the article with no commentary nor editorial comment by the Poster, limited to 60 characters or so.

I have to agree - clicking a Mega link is like unwrapping a present - most times it is a surprise so it keeps 'em clickin'.

I don't see this thread as completely tangential to economics. But hey, I'm a physician not a high minded economist like many on this site. By the way, with all the Alex Jones bashing that goes on here, I thought it would be interesting to note that this party that has been swept into power is apparently full of "9/11 Truthers". And while I can't find a supporting link (the videos seem to have been pulled from Youtube), supposedly one of their Diet "congressmen" used an Alex Jones video to help bolster his point.

Someone put a nice torpedo into that plan of "rethinking relationship with the US".

                        Literally.
