  • Audit the Fed?

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125175164147973783.html

What would Ron Paul's bill do?

The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009, H.R. 1207, simply directs the comptroller general (who heads the GAO) to complete an audit of the Fed system—the Board and regional banks—before the end of 2010 and report his findings to Congress.
Mr. Paul, in an interview, said he expects the audit to detail who the Fed lends to, how much it lends and what agreements it has with foreign central banks and financing organizations. His bill would not repeal the 1978 exclusions entirely; it only calls for a one-time audit, though it would set a precedent. Mr. Paul said he wants the Fed to be audited at least annually.

Anyone think this bill will become law?
If it does, will it make any difference?

Yes, the "harm the banking system" line. It has gotten so bad that the truth cannot be seen, for fear of the harm it would cause. In another thread the Hans Christian Anderson story The Emperors New Clothes was mentioned.

The Fed gets another month to lodge an appeal from the Bloomberg FOIA request victory of last week, and keep the delay/stalling going on for another year ....justice delayed is justice denied

my post was a bit off topic as it relates to the lawsuit Bloomberg filed against the Fed to know the names of all the financial institutions and amounts lent to them during the crisis last fall, and so would not constitute a true audit.

I would hope it to reveal more of the tangled web of influence by and collusion between our federal government and the financial/banking cartel, making it more transparent so the average citizen could see the corruption.

But then the MSM would have to report on the tangled web. I wonder if a bombshell would come out that would have to be reported.
