  • Bernanke say ecomom on the cusp.......

Economic activity in both the U.S. and around the world appears to be "leveling out," and "the prospects for a return to growth in the near term appear good," Bernanke said in a speech at an annual Fed conference in Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Markets are way up after his speach. My question is when has he ever gotten it right? Anyone got one example?

He's got it right this time. Prospects for a return to growth in the near term do appear good...after all you'd expect something for the trillions in global stimulus "investment". Prospects for growth beyond the near term...well that's another matter. ;)

Re: Bernanke say ecomom on the cusp.......

I see much more downtown construction in the last month in my new england town. I get the feeling it's the one last hurrah, buying up all of the left over product from the end of the boom and taking advantage of cheaper labor. Then comes supply crunch and inflation. If I had a house, I would get the new windows and roof now.

More importantly, why don't they have the economic conference in the winter so Ben can catch some fresh tracks in the Tetons.

Ok its not The USA but we apparently use the same washing machine when it come to truth. It is a Murdock link and I suppose he can't be everywhere

I can attest to this. It is getting very "edgy" down here.
Phone call last night from a man who is a legend in his field of Earthworks looking for "anything". 14 weeks unemployed and not a thing. Can't get Unemployment as he has over $5000 in savings. Caterpillar would like to help but they are Not hiring anybody, anywhere. This man is so capable Caterpillar get him to test and report on new products. His last Salary was $190,000pa+ perks and as you know you spend what you make. Personally it is so slow I sneak off and do 18 holes once a week. Everyone I talk to in construction is laying off and forward orders are falling off the plank. Bernanke is right - it is on the cusp of something but its not green shoots (unless he;s smoking em). Down here its dying a slow and painful death and I'm not bullshitting you.

Who's ecomom? Is she like the neo-hippie mom who only shops at Whole Foods?
