These were the new terms, the coded messages, that the Christian-right used to communicate with each other and to take control of the public schools.

Now I know why kids are joining gangs in California and everywhere else.
Are you saying that kids "in California and everywhere else" are joining gangs because of the "Christian right"?

Out of curiosity, what does the term "back-to-basics" mean in Christian-right code speak?

"Undermining what has long been considered as irrefutable proof in investigation of criminal cases, scientists announce that DNA evidence found at crime scenes can 'easily' be fabricated.

A scientific company specialized in forensic DNA analysis revealed that while DNA fingerprinting is considered one of the leading forensic tools in dealing with criminal cases, DNA evidence can easily be falsified and planted at crime scenes prior to collection by law enforcement officers.

According to the Tel Aviv-based life science company, Nucleix, a sample of DNA matching any profile can be constructed using basic equipment and access to DNA or a DNA profile in a database without obtaining any tissue from that person.

'You can just engineer a crime scene,' said Dan Frumkin, lead author of the new study conducted by Nucleix and published by the journal Forensic Science International: Genetics. 'Any biology undergraduate could perform this.'"
It's just a lot easier to get a bit of hair from the person or the person's house and leave it at the crime scene or even plant it in an evidence bag in the case file.

Kids have joined gangs because they do not relate to public education, nor to America, and they have lost hope for the future.

And the code words: "back-to-basics" has meant back to phonics, back to speed-reading, "back to old reading books called "readers", back to arithmetic drills, back to long-division problems, back to standardized timed-testing, back rote-memorization and regurgatation (sp?) of written material; back to spelling tests, to penmanship; in short, it's meant, "check your brain at the door, sit-down in the classroom, be quiet, behave, and to become a zombie.

Wholistic thinking, divergent thinking, in fact thinking of any kind in the classroom, has been discouraged. Kids in "back-to-basics" education are to "skill and drill". Teachers are required to teach archaic skills. And "skilling" of children has meant teaching to standardized timed-tests in a standardized one-size-fits-all curriculum required by the U.S. Department of Education.

No wonder kids are now gang-rappers. And the Bush Republicans ( the Christian-right ) instigated (sp?) a war against the kids and against what they called, "liberals". Really, the Republicans have instigated (sp?) a war against any change at all in America, and part of this war has been a war upon liberal teachers and thinking-students in the public schools.

Steve, I wholeheartedly disagree with your miguided assessment of the situation once again.

By the way, if you were a teacher for as many years as you claim, why do you not know how to spell so many words. Is proper spelling a part of the archaic basics which you despise? It's also sad that you recognize that you may have spelled many word incorrectly, yet you don't care enough to easily consult dictionary.com or some resource so you yourself can learn something new. Some teacher. Some role model for our students. Maybe it's teachers like you that are the real reason that kids are disenfranchised with real learning.

As for alcohol, booze has always been legal in Mexico. I myself bought liquor in Ensenada, Baja California Norte in my youth.... As for evolution, the Catholic Church has no problem with the study of evolution nor with the teaching of evolution in biology. And Mexico has no problem with evolution.

The place where you might find problems with the teaching of evolution is in the USA, especially in the South. The Christian-right has made it impossible for teachers to teach much of anything except for phonics, archaic basic skills in long division, timed test-taking, penmanship, flag-worship, and their rightwing version of American history.
