  • the Healthcare Question

Looking beyond the fire and smoke, what we may be seeing with healthcare is analogous to the auto insurance industry.

A trade-off by the insurance groups, allowing a degree of state or fed rate supervision. in exchange for mandatory health coverage.

That's the arrangement in states that have mandatory auto insurance, with attempts having been made at the same for mandatory earthquake (Cali) and hurricane (Fla).

Without mandatory auto insurance, having 40 million uninsured drivers touring the by-ways wouldn't surprise many. Having nothing to lose and a too-tight budget, that would be a no-brainer. (Of course there's always a wedge of rogue, uninsured asphalt pilots taking their chances, registration stickers be damned.)

With Big Pharma now advertising for health reform, do we need to do anymore research than that to know they'll come out ahead. Expect the first Federal Healthcare Czar to be from you know where, just like many of the state insurance commissioners.

As far as all the noise this action has generated, it would seem to mean one or both of two things. A lot of money is going to change hands, and not from the top down, and/or a pyrotechnic diversion was seen as needed for the economic catastrophe which continues to unfold.
