While I share your lack of respect for PETA, for the record I believe that PETA officially stands for "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals." I will grant that some of their actions fit your name better.
Most folks are good; a few aren't.

I prefer PUTH: People for the Unethical Treatment of Humans.

          i tend to agree.

i live in an ocean front "blue collar" community just north of boston. there are many "young professionals" here that come for the beach access and lower rent/more affordable housing. but there are also some really tough streets a few blocks away from the tree lined, ocean front neighborhoods.

i occasionally walk up/down these tougher streets as it's a cut through to access the subway system into boston. i often find myself wondering what will happen if SHTF? Who will need protection? will i need protection? Who will be the strongest and who will be weak.

i've almost come to the conclusion that people like me will need protection. there have been postings on these forums about how in the coming depression, you'll want to "fit in". i think those that don't fit in will be targets....and if you live near tough areas, you will be an easy target.

so while i agree that we should fear an oppressive and militant government, we must be aware of the other side of the coin - the angry masses that might just be looking to settle a score. it may not be personal but if you look like "them" then you'll need to be cognizant of threats to your safety from people who may just think that you are a part of the problem.

over the years i've tended to be critical of police actions/abuses. however i do appreciate the fact that their job, in theory, is public safety. and if things do get chaotic at some point, i can't say i wouldn't want someone to cover my a$$, lest i need to do it myself...
