don't most scientists agree other things being equal it seems extremely likely that putting a shit load of CO2 and other gases into the air will lead to the atmosphere getting hotter.

The climates an extremely complex and dynamic thing, I understand that, but just because there's doubt about some of the dynamics doesn't mean the obvious in your face problem doesn't exist.

She's saying more than that. India is seeing some of the negative affects of globalization by big corporations such as Monsanto and various industrial producers more clearly than most of us. She ends by speaking clearly against carbon rights trading.

They do but the deniers are drinking plenty of coffee and they'll come up with a new doubt angle any day now.

The problem is, denying global warming (or even man made GW) is not the same as denying the holocaust. The evidence is in no way conclusive otherwise there wouldn't even be any debate about it. In fact there is so much evidence against global warming that most right thinking empiricists would be forced to adopt neither position just yet.

Do I think looking after the environment is a "Good Thing"? Of course. But the incentives and regulations that would come about from that position are entirely different from those that seem be being proposed (and enacted) for the MMGW position.

Global warming is BULLSH*T, its getting cooler...

AND its not man made, even it was getting warmer !

ONE volcanic eruption can push into the atmosphere enough carbon that is equal to or double than all the carbon thats ever been push into the atmosphere ever, since year dot !

And DONT mention the SUN ! 98% of the earths warmth is the SUN rays..

So to fight (if it existed) global warming do this:
                1) Curtains out at MARS
                2) Plugs for all volcanoes !

The 'carbon tax' is a method of WORLD TAX to tax from the rich and give to the richer !

Remember the Y2K CON !!! ha ha Suckers !

More and more Fox News watchers each day on here. Why are redneck Americans the only human beings on earth that cannot grasp simple concepts such as CO2 polution bad, science good, ...

The only peole as brainwashed and retarded that I've ever met where the U.S.S.R communist rednecks that also believed the propoganda while the rest of the world was laughing at them.

Do these redneck Americans ever travel and do they not realize that the entire world is laughing at them?

boy I can't wait for to hear how evolution is not a fact but just a theory.

Every time you post something like this, you only serve to discredit yourself and your movement more.

ICM is in New Zealand. Chris I seem to remember is UK though I may be confusing with Mr. Coles.

Pathetic attempts to paint anyone disagreeing with you as a Fox News watching redneck American is simply a puerile ad hominem attack.

As for Vandana Shiva - her argument is a redux of what Sir James Goldsmith said 25 years ago.

Yup, from the UK and have a PhD in a scientific field (though not environmental science). Still i'm happy with the redneck compliment. There is a lot that enlightened liberals can learn from the more "simple people".

I thought a 'red neck' was some one who shagged his sister !

Anyways I am not against 'a tidy back yard' policy. Keep the world green !

I am not against reducing CO2.

Society leaders should impose FINES, not taxes for such breaches.

I am against those that wish to tax me or take my job over it, or taking my money and giving it to some tosser in another country.

I am against being lied to about global climate theories !

I don't want to sidetrack this thread . . . please give me a brief answer and I'll leave it at that.

My understanding is that millions of dollars and thousands of man-hours were expended over a period of years to avert the Y2K problem. If that effort had not been expended, a disaster would have befallen us. Is that not the case?

In 1996, an IT manager walks into a board room and sells this story, months latter his IT budget has trippled!

The word 'disaster' was the emotive word used to replace 'possible hick up'...it was milked for all $$$$ it could be...Hey I did ok out of it, new BMW !
