Anyone with half-a-brain and a pension for liberty and democracy would want to get themselves, their family, and their wealth OUT of the Islamic Republic of Iran for good.

I am ashamed that we at the University of California in Berkeley in the late 1960s gave the Sproul Hall steps and a microphone to the devils from Iran who were intent upon toppling the Shah of Iran--- with a hidden agenda of forming an Islamic Republic in Iran.

According to yet another (so far as I know) unreliable source, this confiscation of dollars and gold actually occurred on October 7, 2008. See further 20 Tons of Gold Enter Turkey from Iran, Whose is it?.

I suspect that "news" is the wrong category for this thread. So far I see no reliable source.
