    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wall Street banks and lawyers could collect nearly $1 billion in fees from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and American International Group Inc to help manage and break apart the insurer, The Wall Street Journal said on Wednesday, citing its own analysis...

    ...According to the newspaper, the situation creates potential conflicts of interest in oversight by causing the government to employ many companies it regulates.

    The government owns nearly 80 percent of AIG, and has given the insurer a series of bailouts estimated at $180 billion...

      WAKARUSA, Indiana (Reuters) - President Barack Obama urged the economically battered U.S. heartland on Wednesday to resist hard times and pledged $2.4 billion to help create green jobs and ease the pain of rising unemployment.

      Eager to show that his $787 billion stimulus package is working, the U.S. leader traveled to a part of northern Indiana with one of the country's highest unemployment rates to announce $2.4 billion in stimulus grants to spur manufacturing of batteries and components for electric vehicles.

      "This represents the largest investment in this kind of technology in American history," Obama told a crowd of 200 people at a factory that makes motor homes...

      ...Obama came to the Monaco Coach factory to announce $2.4 billion in grants as part of his administration's "Green" economy vision and efforts to announce U.S. energy independence...

        "For too long, we failed to invest in this kind of innovative work, even as countries like China and Japan were racing ahead," he said.

          I think he was trying to drum up more interest in the recently expanded Cash for Clunkers program...turn in your old Monaco Coach and trade down to a new fuel efficient F-150...pretty soon we'll be able to thumb our noses at the Saudis...:rolleyes:

            thank god he's not at a nanotech or biotech firm where he can do real damage...
