  • Has Ben been practising on his keyboard??

    Remember the itulip spycam?

Well it looks like Ben has been practising on his keyboard again.

A man in the United States popped out to his local petrol station to buy a pack of cigarettes - only to find his card charged $23,148,855,308,184,500.
That is $23 quadrillion (£14 quadrillion) - many times the US national debt.
"I thought somebody had bought Europe with my credit card," said Josh Muszynski, from New Hampshire.
He says his appeals to his bank first met with little understanding, though it eventually corrected the error.
It also waived the usual $15 overdraft fee.
"It is a lot of money in the negative," he said. "Something I could never, ever, afford to pay back." (a bit like the National Debt)

It only took a 2 hour phonecall to convince them it was a mistake.
Deflation anyone?? As soon as someone tells the man at the FED where the (+) button is on the keyboard the the US will be rich again!

Although I haven't done a Luhn check, it looks like the merchant put in the credit card number as the amount.

Do you reckon he knows his number is floating around the internets?
It's Economics vs Thermodynamics. Thermodynamics wins.

I hope that he made that connection if it is, we speculated it was and it's not even our card...wouldn't hold my breath though.

FWIW - looks like there is an extra zero. If you remove the zero, luhn checks out. Also, because it starts with a 2, I think that it's an airline and other industry assignment code... typically banks start with 4, 5, 6.
