  • What Carter...Sorry Obama has in store for you ;)

I grew up during the 70's, my they say history repeats, yep sure does. I recall the "Last of the V8's".....the birth of the Pinto....& the Mustang 2.

Well, the last 10 years has bought some good cars, but mostly the f*cking SUV. We know it was the only thing American Auto makers could hope make that would turn a profit.............but now we come to the end.

    Thank God

I for one am totally pissed off with grossy over weight meat heads rummbling about in equaly over weight transport. I prayed to God night after night for $200 oil..............only (for now) to have my hopes dashed.

However, hope is here.............it seems Jimmy Carter....sorry Obama has seen the light............expect "Cap & trade" or " We going to tax your sorry ass for that SUV" very soon.

Worried that you might find it tricky to DRIVE EVERYWHERE?.............fear not Obama & crew over at GM (Goverment motors) have the answer for you.

    Enjoy:-

Jimmy Carter: Hi Governor Carter from Georgia, I'm running for President.
I want to ask you to help me next year.
Announcer: In the beginning, Jimmy Carter's campaign was a lonely one,
but through the months, more and more people recognized him as a new leader.
A man who will change the way this country is run. A competent man, who can
make our government open and efficient, but above all an understanding man,
who can make ours a government of the people once again.
Jimmy Carter. A leader for a change.

I always had problems understanding the desire for the post-industrial society and all this Trilateral claptrap.

      ...

The study itself makes clear that the three Trilateral commissars are especially concerned about the economic demands made upon elected representatives by constituency groups which may contradict the austerity and primacy of debt service demanded by oligarchical financier factions.

      ...

Huntington is willing to explore the alternative that the political parties may have to be done away with: "It could be argued that political parties are a political form peculiarly suited to the needs of industrial society and that the movement of the United States into a post-industrial phase hence means the end of the party system as we have known it." "In less developed countries, the principal alternative to party government is military government. Do the highly developed countries have a third alternative?" (p. 91)

Jeeshz, Mega, haven't seen this side of you before. Had a nittle nip before posting have we?

Not really understanding your problem with the free market determining what size of vehicle people want. You may not like the SUV concept, but you're only one opinion, which is obviously far outnumbered by those free Americans and others voting with their hard earned earnings. Buy a Prius or take public transportation if you want, but don't try to tell the rest of us (the majority) how to live or spend our money.

Also, didn't know you had an issue with us yanks. Thanks for the insight.

The point of cap and trade is to represent the cost of carbon dump into the atmosphere in the economic trade-space. If we paid for the Pentagon with a gas tax $4 would be cheap. We all agree that free markets work it is whether they are corrupted or blind of real-world facts that makes them "fail".

Re: What Carter...Sorry Obama has in store for you ;)

Cap-and-trade is about carbon dump into the atmosphere?

The eco-frauds in British Columbia have refused to put in the piping (laterals) around Victoria to allow people to heat their homes with natural gas. So we have to burn wood. We have to cut trees, split logs, and burn wood in our wood stoves.

We can not turn our baseboard heaters on because of the cost of electricity. Yet, our homes were built with baseboard heaters because BC was supposed to have surplus (cheap) hydro-electric power. And BC was supposed to have nuclear power. But the eco-frauds have stopped all power plant development except for their absurd tidal power scheme. So as senior citizens we now suffer.

Burning wood day and night in our wood stoves, each home dumps more carbon and filth into the atmosphere than any power plant or factory could. And the rationale of the eco-nuts for this pollution is that the coastal forest recycles all of this pollution from burning wood, so it doesn't count.

If Canada or BC passes an absurd scheme like Cap-and-Trade, we senior citizens may have to pay a tax on our own heat.

Can you imagine keeping a book daily for the government on how much wood you burn to keep warm? Can you imagine accounting for carbon and trading carbon credits with some government bureaucrat, a district carbon planner, or whatever?

Here is what I believe: I think these eco-frauds are out to make human life impossible and jam-up our entire economy so that everyone has to go back to living in caves. I think the eco-frauds are really traitors and belong in jail.

Cap-and-trade, wherever it is passed in the world, is going to be a nightmare for people, especially senior citizens, not to mention businesses and producers.

And those tidal power plants around Victoria? They have been so successful that B.C. often now has to import electricity from the U.S, just to keep its lights on. In other words, dams in the U.S. and nuclear power in the U.S. is helping to keep British Columbia from being blacked-out... But don't confuse the eco-nuts in British Columbia with the facts.
