    Oh Dear
    How Sad
    Never mind

Perhaps if those shitty little arseholes sussed that they better off NOT trying to be 51ST State or a Demi-Superpower things might improve.....a bit.

Re: Its looking VERY bad for the British (Ho Ho)

As the baby-boomers become seniors, why is it any shock that more is going to be spent by government to take care of baby-boomer needs than is being collected by government in general taxation? Why didn't the government in the UK, and elsewhere, plan for this time when baby-boomers would become seniors and place a draw on the national treasury? In other words, why weren't budget surplusses collected and compounded in prior years to prepare for the coming-of-age of the baby-boom?

I don't know what went on in the UK, but in the US, money was pissed-away on national defence, atomic bombs, star wars, the Cold War, the Vietnam War, the drug war, and now under Obama, ridiculous spending (trillions in the TARP programme) to help the big banks. And now the baby-boomers have needs that must be met by government, whether the government has money for these needs or not.

      If I recall correctly:

#1 TARP was signed into law while Bush was still in office
#2 TARP was only in the neighborhood of 800 billion (not "trillions").
#3 The other, non-legislatively passed, no-oversight Federal Reserve lending programs (ie TALF, etc) are orders of magnitude larger than TARP.

How come you and all the other right wing FoxNews talking point regugitators continue to rail against the Obama administration but fail to acknowledge this started way before he took office? Youre falling right into the trap that the mainstream media wants you to fall in: "Oh noes! This is all Obama's fault! But Bush was the greatest president ever and he was truly the hero for America! Yay!".

It's a good point, I often hear Obama spend 12 trillion or something like that, which is obviously not true on so many levels.

Maybe Obama will take the blame or maybe not, but people have to realize that the banks tell the president what he has to do and not the other way round.

        Live-Blogging the Geithner Confirmation Hearing
        January 21, 2009, 8:20 am

Timothy F. Geithner, President Obama’s nominee to be Treasury secretary, testified before the Senate Finance Committee at his confirmation hearing on Wednesday.

As president of the New York Federal Reserve since 2003, Mr. Geithner has been a central player in building the vast bailout plans that the government has extended to Wall Street firms and other troubled financial institutions, such as the giant insurer American International Group. After his nomination, it was disclosed that Mr. Geithner failed to pay more than $34,000 in taxes for Social Security and Medicare when he was a senior official at the International Monetary Fund from 2001 to 2003, including a small payment in 2004 after he left.

I don't know if this has been the case since Lincoln, with the possible exception of Kennedy, as Engdahl put it, but it's obvious now.

No-one hates the rightwing in America more than I do, and I voted for Obama and his bunch. No-one wanted real change in America more than I did.

But what have we got from Obama so far? A continuation of Bernanke at the Fed. Trillions in spending to rescue big banks. Rescues for failed auto companies in Detroit. Rescues for big insurance companies. A 50% pay-hike at Citi Bank funded by the bail-out to Citi Bank.

And the Obama energy plan is windmills and solar. The people are starving, and Obama comes up with an energy plan based upon hope and faith. So far no nuclear power. So far no hydro-electric power. So far no natural gas power. So far no coal for power. So far no drilling for oil where we know light sweet oil exists (in the Pacific off of Santa Barbara and Los Angeles). So far no support for Alberta's tar sands mining and upgrading to light oil. And so far, believe it or not, no national health insurance passed.

I don't like the rightwing especially that religious bunch from the South. The profound damage that they have done to America is unforgivable.

I worked in the schools in America, and I saw the control the rightwing has over public education: endless phonics crap for kids, cursive crap, endless flag worship, a total brainwashing for kids about the Constitution, and English-only when kids desperately have to learn foreign languages for America to exist in this world, endless timed testing taught outright as a basic skill.......No-one in America hates its rightwing more than I do. I hope they go-off and form their own country in the South.

But I am not happy with the Obama bunch now, and I certainly will vote OUT Nancy Pelosi for helping to pass Cap-and-Trade at 3AM EDT last night when we were all asleep.

I call things the way I see them, and from what I see, both of the parties in the US are worthless and in bed with lobbyists for the big corporations and banks.

Comparing the accomplishments of the first 100 days of the FDR Administration to the accomplishments of the first 100 days of the Obama Administration is like comparing night and day. All that I see in the White House is a celebrity, and the last thing America needs now is a celebrity.

We don't even have the restoration of the Glass-Stiegel Act to limit the power of the banks to be in bed with Wall Street. No, I am very disillusioned with the Obama bunch, and for many reasons.... July begins next week, and the Obama bunch is still catering to the greenies and betraying the liberals like myself.

Obama is just the continuation of a long string of mis-judgements made by our beloved leaders. When are people going to take responsibility for themselves and tell their leaders to BUTT OUT!!

None of these clowns who administer us know wtf they're doing. In fact if a person can point out ONE leader that was outstanding either past or present, I'll eat my keyboard. Fact is, government is a romantic notion to most people. If you have the mental image that I do, of a hammer that can blast your brains out if you use it incorrectly I think you finally get it.

Do we need government? Yea a little, but a little is not alot and thats what we have now which is what the root of the problem is.

              James Madison.

He ended the First Bank of the United States (a central bank). Enough said.

Well that was far ranging. I'm not sure what he thinks of George Clooney. I do agree Jesus couldn't fix this.

The real question is could Jesus get elected?

I don't know ... would the government let him out of the mental hospital long enough to run? (For those whose dark sense of humor doesn't rhyme with mine, this is a pro-Jesus, anti-gov, wisecrack.)

Lol where did you happen to find the perfect pic? Madison was a strong constitutionalist and the one author of the Federalist papers I really enjoyed. He however, wasn't a strong archetypical leader. I'm talking about a real barn burner, interventionalist type who is going to LEAD us. President Madison had the good sense to GET OUT OF THE WAY and in the case of the first USA bank, he did the right thing and made sure that they didn't get in our way. So I agree Madison is a great leader only in the way he managed to protect our freedoms and not be a pain in the arse.

I'm off to go chew on my keyboard now, I'm all the way to J.

Right. All those things were entirely the right-wing.

If the South ever split off into its own state, I have a good idea on which segment would suffer.

Hi Mega. I read your comment about me and my country.

I have thought for some time that iTulip is going down in the world, and here is some good evidence: unmoderated and really rather unpleasant rubbish from someone who is insufficiently intelligent to post a sensible comment.

Perhaps the probable loss of the intellectual argument which predicted future bubble-blowing inflation is resulting in a descent to infantile name-calling among the inflationista camp. After all, if you lose an argument, and can't bear to admit it, you might as well just be rude. You have nothing left to lose.

Notice how those in power, especially in Washington, are clicky. I presume the same is true in London. Gordon Brown, Mervyn King at the Bank of England, and the others must all be yes-men to current monetary policy of serving the banks.
